This was our conversation in the car this morning:
B: Mom, you know that tooth that's coming in...my permanent tooth?
Mom: Yeah?
B: It is covered with a red slimy film all over it - you know, like a baby calf has when it's born.
Mom: (laughing hysterically) That's a very descriptive way of putting it! It's funny that you made a connection with your tooth to a baby calf! I'll look at it when we get out of the car.
B: I can't believe I remembered that a baby cow is called a calf!
Mom: B, you're seven. You've known that a baby cow is called a calf since you were three. Here's one you might not know - what is a baby goat called?
B: A baby goat. (that was his answer, not repeating my question)
Mom: A baby goat is called a kid!!! (snicker, snicker)
Pause
B: So...I'm a goat?!
