Fun Weekend!

B and I had a great weekend! Friday evening we went to Pizza Hut with my mom and then we hit Toys R Us. I needed to get ideas for birthday gifts! We ran into a friend and they were shopping for their son's birthday party which was the next day. We were invited and B was very excited at the mention of a hay ride. We went to the party on Saturday and someone was nice enough to take our picture...since I'm always behind the camera, I don't have many pictures of B and me. We roasted weenies at the fire and had fun playing games with the kids. Of course, my sport nut couldn't get enough of baseball and basketball. His dad and I were both pretty athletic and he definitely inherited that gene. From the birthday goodie bag, B popped a piece of gum in his mouth before we headed for home. He popped a bubble and it splattered all over his face. He must have been too tired to get it off because he feel asleep with it like that! I noticed how quiet it was in the back seat and when I turned to check on him I was certain he was foaming at the mouth!! I can honestly say, my heart completely stopped and I almost wrecked the car. I start screaming his name while looking for a place to pull over. Finally, he wakes up and says, "What, mom? I'm tired." I told him he scared me to death and I got the "eye roll". He didn't understand what scared me so bad until we got home and I had him look in the mirror. So, I know you can use ice cubes and even peanut butter to get gum out of hair...but have you tried to scrub it off lips and cheeks?? It just formed little gummy balls that rolled around on his face. I finally gave up and waited until the next day when they were dirty gummy balls. Can I just say that I had issues with knowing he went to bed with a dirty face? When did I become OCD?

On Sunday, we took a forty minute trip up north to the town where I grew up to watch my niece and nephews play football. My niece and one nephew are seven and the other nephew is ten. The seven-year-olds are on different teams and they played against each other. They still play the flag football. The ten-year-old is sorta short for his age and he plays in the next league with full pads and helmets...tackle football in other words. They all did great, but the oldest definitely gets the shout-out this time. He made at least 5 tackles by himself! Keep in mind the opposing team members are almost twice his size! Maybe you had to be there, but it was quite exciting! So, that was two games back to back...outside...on a beautiful day. Guess who got a sun burn? White girl! Who thinks about putting on sunblock toward the middle of September? Stupid tan lines. I had on capri pants, so it's only from the knee down on my legs. My nose and cheeks got it too. Nothing bad, I'll just end up with more freckles. B didn't show any signs of singed skin, thank God. When we got back to town, we went grocery shopping. We got all this really good food and B helped pick out most of it. When we got home all he wanted was cereal. Sometimes you're just too tired to argue.
