1st Day of 1st Grade!

He's officially a first grader! B had a great first day back to school. He seems very excited about going back and I think he's going to have a great year. There are a few changes from Kindergarten: this year he has spelling words, he has his own desk, homework almost every night, and this year they will get letter grades instead of + and check marks.

We went to the zoo yesterday...pictures will post tomorrow. We had a great time and even got to pet sharks! Before that, B had a dentist appointment. Good news: no cavities! Bad news: two baby teeth have to be pulled. His permanent teeth need room to move where they are supposed to, so we have an appointment next Wednesday to get the baby teeth out of the way. He's a little nervous about getting them pulled and "being put to sleep". I'll get busy and put together a fun day at home after it's done...with soft foods and cool movies! B is very interested in what the dentist is doing and about teeth in general. It wouldn't surprise me if he wanted to be a dentist when he grows up. He looks forward to going to the dentist and loves to get his teeth cleaned...weird kid. He even lets me floss his teeth. Sometimes he brings me the floss and climbs in my lap to have it done. You know, I hope having an easy time raising him when he's little doesn't mean he's going to make up for it as a teenager!
